I am too, the logistics behind starting our own country are too far out reach at the moment. If we started our own country, America would invade so damn fast, there’s oil here. we’d be screwed if they did as we’d have nothing to offer money wise, we wouldn’t be able to stand and fight as we’d have no military. Sadly it’s just a Dream for us right now. I don’t think America would invade. We already give them everything they ask for so they don’t need to. I’d hope not as Alberta already sends all of its oil state side, bc sends majority of its trees state side as well. Another thing to keep in mind is how unpredictable america is, especially during these times. I have thought the same thing. Make it mandatory for young adults 18 years old to serve 2 years of service mandatory. Learn some discipline from the military if their parents won’t give it to them.
Setting aside the negative connotations of the term “socialism”, it actually is socialism. Even if a term of service is required. There’s really no such thing as free education though. It’s paid for out of the tax pool and once a person finishes school they would be entering the workforce and paying into the same tax pool. So, I think it’s more accurate to say that school should be accessible. But, moot point. I’m actually more leaning on systems similar to Isreal were all citizens are required to serve in the military. Or the fictional system seen in the movie “Starship Troopers” where service to the people is what earns “citizenship” or grants you full access to a country’s benefits. But trying to move it away from military and more towards service towards the country. Disaster cleanup, infrastructure maintenance are just examples of government paid services that could benefit and also teach people a skill/trade that can benefit their future career goals. But to a point, a similar concept could be applied in areas like healthcare too. Main goal is a universally unbiased system that benefits everyone and creates unity be creating similar experiences/accessibility for everyone.
